The digital asset securities firm received the support of funders such as Ripple, Ava Labs, and Blockchain Capital for its Series B fundraiser.
Securitize, a US securities firm, announced yesterday that it has completed an oversubscribed Series B financing round that raised $ 48 million.
The round was led by Morgan Stanley Tactical Value and Blockchain Capital with support from existing investors such as Ripple, Blockchain Ventures and SPiCE VC, as well as new investors such as IDC Ventures and Ava Labs.
Securitize was founded in 2017 and aims to reinvent private capital markets by using blockchain technology to connect investors with companies looking to raise capital. The solution is a digital platform that facilitates the issuance, management and trading of securities of digital assets.
“Securitize developed incredible partners during our Series A round last year, both in the venture capital space and with major European and Japanese financial institutions“, Commented Carlos Domingo, CEO and co-founder of Securitize. “The inclusion of a major US investment bank and the largest trust bank in Japan, as well as other top VCs in our Series B, shows that trust in the introduction of digital securities is becoming more mainstream. “
Companies that have already used Securitize’s technology include crypto wallet provider Exodus, which used the platform last month to offer a digital representation of its stocks and raised $ 75 million in the process.
Securitize recently launched Securitize Capital, an asset management subsidiary, as well as its first two cryptocurrency income funds. Soon, Securitize will also launch a marketplace for trading digital securities called Securitize Markets.
“Our first investment in the blockchain industry is the leading digital asset securities company, SecuritizeSaid Pedro Teixeira, co-head of Morgan Stanley Tactical Value Investing. “We invest long-term in companies and asset classes that are ahead of their time. Our investment in Securitize is a sign that we believe in the growth and adoption of digital securities. “
Teixeira will join Blockchain Capital co-founder Brad Stephens and SPiCE VC co-founder Tal Elyashiv on the Securitize board of directors. All Series B supporters will receive their Securitize shares in the form of digital asset securities issued through the platform, which now houses more than 300,000 verified investors who have supported more than 150 companies over the past four years.
