After El Salvador made Bitcoin legal tender, a survey was conducted to see if US adults support or oppose a similar move in the US. Of the 4,912 adults who participated, 61% were not against it.
Survey shows that the majority of adults in the US are not against using Bitcoin as legal tender
Yougov America Inc. conducted a survey Thursday to determine whether consumers are for or against the introduction of Bitcoin as legal tender in the United States. A total of 4,912 adults across the country took part in the survey. Yougov is an international research data and analytics group headquartered in London.
Respondents were asked, “Would you support or oppose the US to make Bitcoin a legal currency? This would mean that companies would accept Bitcoin in exchange for goods and services, in addition to the US dollar. “
According to the results, 11% said they “strongly support” and 16% said they “tend to support”. Meanwhile, 11% said they were “somewhat against”, 28% said they were “strongly against” and 34% said they “don’t know”.
Among the male respondents, the number of people who strongly support the introduction of Bitcoin as legal tender rises to 15% and 17% said they are more likely to support it. Among the female respondents, only 7% strongly support this and 14% tend to agree.
The top age groups who strongly support BTC as legal tender in the US are 25-34 (20%) and 35-44 (19%). Meanwhile, 26% of 18 to 24 year olds and 24% of 25 to 34 year olds support something.
